The design emphasizes stealth capabilities, having a radar cross-section akin to a fishing boat despite her large size. She is home ported in San DiegoCalifornia. She is named after US Navy Seal Michael A. Monsoor who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for throwing himself on a grenade to save his comrades.
